If social security has denied your claim, whether it’s an SSDI claim, which is based on money paid into the system, or it’s an SSI claim, which is for disability benefits irrespective of contributions into the system, if you truly believe that you’re disabled, if you believe that your doctor will support you to some extent, or the medical record will support it, go see an attorney and file your appeal. Bear in mind, you have 60 days to file your appeal. If you have an appeal and you don’t take it, you have to start the whole process all over again and almost invariably, you will lose back benefits because if you claim that you were disabled in 2013 and you lose in 2016, and then you file another claim 3 years later, you will have lost all of those prior benefits. The court will not ordinarily reopen back to 2013. The law will be, in your case, that you were not disabled in 2013.
Take your appeals. These cases are taken by lawyers on contingency, only if they win. You have no risk or very, very, very little risk. Take your appeal.
