If you’ve been awarded social security disability you’re receiving the same amount that you would have received at retirement age, at age 66 ordinarily. What happens when you hit retirement age, let’s assume that you were awarded social security at age 60 and now you’re age 66, your disability payments are converted into retirement payments but the amount that you receive is exactly the same. In other words nothing happens other than the benefits are reclassified.
