In order to answer that question, you have to understand something about the process. There is an initial application which is generally made online, although you can go to a Social Security office and make the application there. Social Security will consider your application, they’ll look at your medical records, it’ll look at your employment history, and will make a decision generally anywhere between two and six months. In that context, they may send you out to a medical specialist exam you further. If you lose at that level, there are various appeals that can be taken through at the lower-levels, a hearing in front of an administrative, law judge.
If you file for a hearing in front of an administrative, law judge, which is the third level of appeal, that in Florida will take approximately a-year-and-a-half. If you’re turned down, you’re looking at a two-year process.
