One of the really sad things about the entire Social Security claims process is the fact that everything takes a long time. If you have no income coming in because you’re disabled and you can’t afford to pay your rent, or for your utilities, or to buy food, or to provide for your family, you want to get the process moving as quickly as you can. Unfortunately, it’s kind of like going to the bakery and taking a number in order that you can put your order in for bread. You’re on line. You’re on line with tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of claimants who are all waiting to get in front of the judge. This is a real socio-economic problem. However, in the state of Florida, to get in front of a judge will take approximately a year and a half.
