If one is injured in the course and scope of their employment, they’re entitled to workers compensation benefits. One does not need to have an outside injury, that is be involved in a car accident, a medical malpractice case, a work accident, to file for social security. As a matter of fact, we found that most of our clients are applying because they have problems associated with diabetes, or arthritis, or a degenerative process which is just part of the aging process. Now, of course, whether you’ve become disabled due to an inherent condition such as arthritis, or whether you’ve become disabled because you’ve had a horrible accident, as far as social security goes, makes absolutely no difference. You do not have to be injured at work or any place else to make an application.
