The social security hearing, is the hearing that’s held in front of an administrative law judge. In other words, you will have lost on the initial level, you would have lost at reconsideration, and now you’re at the third level you go in front of the judge. The judge will be there, you will be there, if it’s me I will be there, but in any event your lawyer will be there. Most often there will be a vocational expert there, and often there will be a medical expert. The vocational expert will be asked hypothetical questions based on your restrictions, and asked whether or not there are jobs in the national economy that you can still do. If there are, you may be determined not to be disabled. If there are not, you will win your case. In any event, those are the people that are generally there in addition to a clerk of the court who will take some notes, and keep a record of any exhibits.
