As a general rule, Social Security does not like to award disability benefits to somebody who’s working. However, assume that they claimant is working three days a week, three hours a day, and is working nine hours a week. That isn’t substantial, gainful, employment under Social Security definitions. You can make a small amount of money, maybe as much as $11,000 or $12,000 a year and still file for Social Security disability.
