Will Social Security review my case in the future?

Transcription
Social Security will re-examine your claim only if it’s a successful claim, that is, that you’ve been awarded disability generally, through the age of 66. Once you’re over 66, your benefits are retirement benefits, no longer disability benefits, and therefore, there’s no need for them to look at it. If you have a back problem, for example, that prevents you from working, and the judge determines that you are in fact disabled, there’s certainly a possibility that you’ll have surgery, that it’ll get better just by virtue of the passage of time, and Social Security wants to know about that, so they can re-examine your case. If they re-examine and they change their minds and say that you’re no longer disabled, you can appeal from that decision as well.
